Evaluation of Teaching

The purpose of student evaluation of teaching is to provide teaching staff with information with which to make informed decisions about improving student learning outcomes.

Student evaluation of teaching is one of the necessary components for making such informed decisions. The use of other methods such as peer review and reflective practice, teaching portfolios and student assessment results is also encouraged in order to construct an informed view of the learning and teaching being evaluated. Evaluation is a positive process and should be used for the enhancement of staff development and student learning.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia has a standard instrument for gathering data from students about their response to teaching and learning. These are administered by the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL).
