SYNOPSIS
The current need of higher education outlines OBE as a major requirement. This involves developing and implementing an academic programme that undergoes culture change from that of teacher-centred to student-centred. This workshop enlightens participants on the importance of OBE.

There are basically 4 stages in the implementation of OBE as follows;

  1. Overview – introduction, philosophy, principles, OBE vs. conventional, PDCA cycles
  2. Planning and Designing the curriculum – developing effective PEO, PO, CO, CO matrix, course-PO mapping, Course Outline, Program Specs, Student Learning Time
  3. Implementation – Teaching and delivery, teaching tools and methods (AL, PBL, CL, lab, field works, studio, site visit)
  4. Assessment – Assessment tools (technical and generic skills), direct and indirect measurement, summative and formative, data collection, analyses, and reporting.

At the final stage, some CQI measures that highlight programme evaluation, corrective and preventive measures to improve programmes. Some of the best practices are also highlighted.

  1. Explain the process of OBE implementation
  2. Develop programme educational objectives, Programme outcomes and course outcomes clearly, and to recognise their linkages
  3. Develop a PO – Courses mapping for a programme
  4. Execute instructions using various innovative teaching methods and tools
  5. Conduct various assessment modes to evaluate technical and generic skills via analyses of data
  6. Establish programme specification for your programme that considers student learning time.
